About 3 years ago I bought a peach tree at Wal-Mart. It was an end of summer clearance sale and I picked it up for $5. I thought to myself what a steal. Once it was planted, I began to enjoy it immediately. The spring saw it bursting with the most beautiful shade of green leaves. It required water, obviously, but appeared to be growing fast. That is one of its characteristics I have found out. It was fun to watch it grow. The first 2 years there was no fruit. But this is the third year!
My little peach tree started to pop out with peaches this last spring. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was so happy to see fruit I didn’t thin the tree. So the peaches are a medium size, but are they good. Just got done giving some to my neighbor and will soon give more to my daughter.
The tree also seems a sturdy thing. Maybe I am convincing myself because of the fruit, but this adventure has been more successful than any gardening experience I have had. And to find something so abundant in Arizona! You need to pick vegetation carefully so it can stand the heat, and peach trees seem to handle whatever is handed to them in a dry, hot climate.
Next will be peach slices on ice cream. Then perhaps shortcake with peaches and cream. HAHA.
If you are looking for a tree that produces marvelously in hot temperatures, check out the peach. I have referred to a website with more info on growing peaches. Check out the URL.
